MFA Spring Semester 2024

During the spring semester of 2024 I was challenged with creating works of art based on the research of other artists and materials. This resulted in my looking closely into the art of Henri Matisse, Wassily Kandinsky, and Bisa Butler to name a few. Further, I researched quilting, Gelli printing, encaustic painting, and various ways to incorporate sound into my paintings. In the end, my mark making became more intentional and my compositions more expressive of movement with shape and color arranged to create a visual symphony. I found this semester to be a turning point in my creative process and I am excited to see how my work continues to grow and evolve.
